The Society of Simulation and Gaming of Singapore is a non-profit professional organization set up to contribute to the development of Simulation and Gaming in Singapore and the region. It is a focused community for researchers, practitioners and developers who are keen in furthering their professional knowledge through learning and working together and promoting the experiential activities in the public.
Gary Tan was a pioneer in the Direct Honours Programme of the National University of Singapore and received his B.Sc (1st class Honours) from NUS. He received his M.Sc and Ph.D from the University of Manchester , U.K. He has been lecturing at the School of Computing , National University of Singapore since 1990, and was the recipient of Teaching Awards of the Faculty of Science in both 1992 and 1998, the Teaching Excellence Awards from the School in 1999 and 2002, and the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award for 03/04, 04/05 and 06/07. He is also on the ATEA Honour roll for 2008. His research interests include parallel and distributed computing, scheduling and load balancing, declarative multiprocessors, parallel and distributed (interactive) simulation and High Level Architecture. He is currently working on Symbiotic Simulation and Traffic Simulation. He is a member of the Modelling and Simulation Group which is part of the Computer Systems Lab. He has served as Chair of the NUS PROSE committee, a cross-faculty agency tasked with promoting the use of good English in the University. He was also a Resident Fellow of Kent Ridge Hall (1993-2003), and was Master of Sheares Hall (2003-2013). He is now Vice Dean of Student Life at the school. He has had project collaborations with KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), Sweden, and FOI (Swedish Defence Research Agency), and is a collaborator with SMART, and Beihang University. He serves on the program committee of Distributed Simulation and Real-time Systems Symposium, and is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Modelling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing (World Scientific). He is a member of ASIASIM federation, and was Co-chair of AsiaSim2013 (held in Singapore in November 2013). He was Program Chair of DSRT 2016 held in London, and Conference Co-chair of SIMUTOOLS 2016 held in Prague.
Soo Yuen Jien is currently working as a Senior Lecturer in School of Computing, National University of Singapore. His current research interest includes Parallel Programming and Computer Architecture.
Tan Sun Teck graduated from the old Nanyang University with a BSc in 1980 and the University of Essex, UK with MSc and Phd in 1984 and 1989 respectively. He has been teaching in SoC, NUS since 1989. Research interests include Chinese Computing and Computer Aided instruction. He served as the Local Area Arrangement Chair for ISAGA 2009.
Mr. Tay Kim Huat Abel Paschal holds a BSc degree in Computer Science from University of Dundee in Scotland, UK, a diploma in Wireless Intenet Technology & Applications and another in Strategic Brand Management. He is the inventor of FloraSBSS, or better known as CEO-Match, a board and PDA-interfaced strategic business system. CEO-Match, was given the GOLD award by Intellect Property Office Singapore (IPOS) in recognition of the invention in 2003. In February 2006, CEO-Match won the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA 2005) MERIT award for the BEST in Education and Training System category in Thailand. Mr Tay currently runs 3 companies in IT industry, namely, Flora Computer Services, CEOne Pte Ltd, and CEO-Match (SG) Pte Ltd.
Bimlesh Wadhwa has been teaching in SoC, NUS since year 2000. She has graduated from Delhi University, India with a BSc, MSc and PhD in 1983, 1985, and 1990 respectively, and from the National University of Singapore, with MTech in 1996. Her research interests are in Software metrics, Virtual learning environments, and in Usability of Human-computer interfaces. She joined SSAGSg in 2008 and has served as Assistant Secretary in the Council. She served in the Secretariat Office in the organising Committee of ISAGA2009. She has a keen interest in the area of games for learning and teaching in Singapore school education and aims to contribute to the Society by attracting School teachers to be part of it.
Genevieve Ng is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with the CPA Australia since 1995 and a non-Practising CPA with the CPA Singapore since 2010 as well as a Fellow with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) since 2005. She has obtained her Bachelor of Business in 1991 with Curtin University of Technology, an MBA in 1996 with the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma In Applied Finance & Investment with the Securities Institute of Australia (SIA) in 2004 (SIA was merged with the Institute of Banking & Finance Australia in 2005 to form FINSIA). These complementary training has equipped Genevieve with the relevant skill set to manage the diverse demand from accounting & finance in today’s fast-moving global economic environment.
After years of practical accounting & finance experience in the corporate, Genevieve is currently consulting on accounting, tax, corporate finance & market intelligence. She also volunteers at the Institute of Mental Health to help de-stigmatise mental health issues. Genevieve is the Treasurer of the University Women Association Singapore in 2011-12 where she helps to promote education as an avenue to better the future for girls and women. At the CPA Australia’s Singapore Division, she is a committee member with the Personal Effectiveness Group which plans programmes to equip accountants with soft skills as business advisors since 2004.
Yeo Gee Kin graduated with a First-Class Honours in Mathematics from the University of Singapore and completed her graduate studies in University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. She has been teaching operations research and decision support systems for many years. She is a retired Associate Profesor in Information Systems at School of Computing at the National University of Singapore, her research interests include simulation and gaming, modeling systems and model management for decision support. She believes in learning through activities and has been using MAGNUS, a simulation gaming environment, to support her teaching of management support systems. In 2003, she formed Decisionware Simulations and Games, a private limited, to further promote the development of simulation games and their use in training and education. In her academic capacity, she reviews papers regularly for many regional and international conferences in simulation gaming as well as in education. She is a member of the International Simulation and Gaming Association. Locally, she sits on the Academic and Examinations Board of Ascensia Academy.
